But... but.. but... John McCain...

My guess would be since John Edward's finally admitted to being a scumbag you have probably heard a lot about how "McCain dumped his wife too!"

Now, we get to the most relevant question - if John Edwards' political career is done, why isn't John McCain's? John McCain had a well-documented affair on his first wife, with his current wife. He has admitted in the books he has written about his life that he ran around with several different women while still married to his first wife. And don't forget that he left her for a younger, richer woman - multi-millionaire Cindy Hensley who is now Cindy McCain - after she had been severely hurt in a car accident. (It was 30 years ago, before he was in politics and it has been known for years and therefore not news.)

Why has the press kept digging at this case but dropped so many others? Because the corporations that control most of the media in this country are peeing their pants at the thought of Attorney General John Edwards and feel the need to assassinate his character now to try and preempt any role he might have in an Obama administration. (They willfully ignored it for almost a year.)

What is our obsession with this story- or at least the media’s obsession? And all that righteous puffery blowing from the “right”. How could have done this? Well- how could Senator Vitter have done it, how could Senator Craig have done it? The list goes on- but it would also include the question; how could John McCain do it? (Should we have ignored Vitter and Craig?)

OK, so now we know the new ground rules. The private life of John Edwards, who currently neither seeks nor holds public office, is a legitimate story for mainstream media because he was a hypocrite and because he lied.

As for hypocrisy, check out Alabama's chief law enforcement officer, who says the state can put someone in jail for up to one year for selling a sex toy. (Did Troy King get caught using sex toys? This guy makes quite a stretch here, but I mostly added this one because he talks about ME. I love me.)

Now you can say, "well these are left wing cranks" and you would be right, these are the same sites that cry about "right-wing media bias." But predictably, it has also been brought up on all the major news channels, not as insanely as the posts above, but brought up as a defense nonetheless. And therein lies the major problem - THERE IS NO DEFENSE.

Not only did he cheat on his wife, he then lied about it to the national media. That is should be the nail in John Edwards, political coffin. You also must factor in possible payoffs, more lies and paternity. Does anyone buy the line that the kid isn't his?

Bringing up a bunch of stuff on McCain from 30 years does nothing to help John Edwards. If it does please explain to me how.

All it does is make the people saying "But... but.. but... John McCain..." look as stupid as the Mark Foley, David Vitter and Larry Craig defenders.
